Did you know that cancer cells feed on sugar? In this episode, we talk to Martha Tettenborn, a Registered Dietitian and certified Primal Health Coach based in Ontario, all about how following a ketogenic diet and fasting protocols can help cancer patients get through chemotherapy. After receiving a stage 1 ovarian cancer diagnosis a few years ago, Martha began to study the metabolism of cancer and was able to lessen the side effects of chemo through this way of living.
Martha is the author of Hacking Chemo: Using Ketogenic Diet, Therapeutic Fasting and a Kickass Attitude to Power through Cancer Treatment. In her book, she shares her own experiences with fasting and ketogenic diet through chemotherapy, and we learn how she took control of her journey. We talk about how to transition from the Standard American Diet into a low-carb lifestyle, the science behind cancer metabolism, and how to avoid a victim mentality and incorporate self-love into your own healing.

Excellent information, and I’ve passed this along to a friend that just started chemo last week so I know it will be most helpful to her, too. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Terry! I highly recommend Martha’s book. She has such an inspiring approach. Sending well wishes to your friend!
