128. Finding Strength in Sobriety with Mike Gibson

Addiction is a topic that is often stigmatized, but it touches almost every single one of us in some way.
Our guest is Mike Gibson, a former NFL player and now addiction counselor at the Mental Health Center of San Diego, who shares his journey to recovery. In our conversation, Mike and I talk about his retirement from the NFL and the toll that this transition played on his mental health. He shares what that road to sobriety looked like and the mindset shifts that can help us all out in challenging times.
We also discuss how addiction is considered a family disease, and what loved ones can do to show our support while setting boundaries and protecting our own energy.
