The Friday Five: Cutest Music Videos
For some people, music makes the world go round. While I may not quite fall into the concert-going band-obsession category, I do find myself constantly making new playlists and blaring my iHome when I’m spending a lot of time in my room. In fact, over the past couple of weeks, as the Florida summer provided us with the occasional thunderstorm, music alone helped me to relax and tune out the noise from outside.
But to some people, the song isn’t the only part of the equation — it’s the genre. The image. The story. The video. In honor of all things musical, today’s Friday Five is all about music videos… not the angst-ridden ones or the strange short films of Lady Gaga, but the cutesy ones with happy endings. As your week comes to a close, let these songs and their accompanying music videos bring a smile to your face! : )
I apologize in advance for the ones that loaded really slowly from Vevo. Try not to let the long buffer time discourage you!
The Friday Five: Cutest Music Videos
1. You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift
Okay, so it’s the cliche story of Boy Falls For Best Friend/Girl Next Door, full of the typical high school archetypes and everything in between. And maybe the message might not be delivered so clearly — you have to show up in a gorgeous dress before your crush will leave his girlfriend for you? — but I don’t even care. It’s so cute! And while it may not be realistic, what girl wouldn’t consider this her dream prom night?

2. I’m a Believer by Smash Mouth
This one is full of not-so-subtle Shrek references, as Steve from Smash Mouth searches everywhere to find the pretty blonde girl he ran into at the very beginning of the video. Surprise twist ending… a cheesy video, but still a lot of fun.
*
3. The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
This song is all about being true to yourself and not succumbing to peer pressure… and the video does not disappoint! The video features a fully-clothed boy at a party full of people dancing in their underwear, but much like the first video, it has an adorable ending. (Yes, I know I’ve said “adorable” about eighty times in this post so far.)

4. Papa Don’t Preach by Madonna
Here we get to see the teenage girl from the song meet a very handsome 80’s bad boy who happens to love her. Meanwhile, she struggles with the notion of telling her father about her recent pregnancy. This, too, has a happy ending… one that actually evoked an “Awww” from me!
*
5. Through the Rain by Mariah Carey
This video actually tells the story of Mariah’s own background, and it gives the song a message even more beautiful than the one in its lyrics. I think I’m a sucker for love stories!

So what music videos make you smile?
This is cute and sooo true! Thanks for providing the links, by the way. Gonna watch all of them now. 😀
Thank you! I was going to embed them in the post but for some reason I couldn’t do it on here. I hope you enjoy them… as I said, they are adorable!
This is a good list. Number 1 and 3 are two of my favorites!
Thank you! One of my old roommates introduced me to #1 last summer and I fell in love. #3 was one that I remember seeing on TV when it first came out — love that song! : )
